NVIDIA RTX 50 Super Leak Reveals Big Bump In VRAM For Two New GPUs

Contents
RTX 50 Super variants of NVIDIA’s latest graphics cards are said to be underway, suggesting that NVIDIA has already been hard at work getting these new, more powerful GPUs ready for primetime. That being said, these GPUs won’t necessarily be launching anytime soon. It also hasn’t been confirmed that NVIDIA is actually working on these variants, however, it shouldn’t be too surprising that it is, as the company has done things like this before.
It launched the first “Super” variants of its GPUs back with the 20-series, then again with the 40-series, having launched the RTX 4080 Super late last year. Last year’s launch of the RTX 4080 Super also might be a timeline to follow for the RTX 50 Super models. While NVIDIA’s plans may be significantly different, looking to last year’s Super release does, at the very least, give us a potential roadmap. The RTX 4080 launched in November of 2022, while the Super variant didn’t launch until January of 2024. More than one year after the initial model was released. That means NVIDIA could follow the same timeline here. Although anything is possible, NVIDIA could end up releasing these models much earlier.
RTX 50 Super variants could include two different GPU models
Based on the leaked information, NVIDIA is preparing two different models of these new Super GPUs. This includes an RTX 5070 Super and an RTX 5080 Super. Details about the GPUs come from the Chiphell forums (via ITHome and @Harukaze5719 on X).
Most details about these GPUs are pretty scarce, aside from one key component of the specs. Users on the Chiphell forums state that the RTX 5070 Super will come with 18GB of VRAM, while the RTX 5080 Super will have 24GB of VRAM. As of right now, this is the only information about these two GPUs that’s being discussed. Without any details on specs other than the RAM, it’s tough to say how much of an improvement either of these GPUs will be over the regular models.
Both GPUs probably won’t launch until next year
NVIDIA usually doesn’t release its Super GPU models until at least a year after the original versions. So, seeing as the RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 launched no more than a few months ago, we’re probably looking at quite a wait for the launch of both GPUs. That could put the release at some point in February or March of 2026. Based on the timeline.
That being said, there may be details about these cards popping up well before then. In fact, it’s highly likely that more rumors and leaks will surface for each variant leading up to the launch.
