Nothing Launches CMF Phone 2 Pro For $279 Alongside New Earbuds

After several teasers have come and gone, Nothing is finally ready to debut the new CMF Phone 2 Pro. This colorful entry marks the company’s second CMF Phone launch, leading to some impressive new improvements.

The CMF Phone 2 Pro takes on a bright orange/red colorway in a two-tone body, alongside two other available black and white options. The new design carries the same stainless steel screws seen in the first generation, though switching rear panels isn’t an option.

The CMF Phone 2 Pro comes in at $279 in the US, with the only model available being the 8GB/265GB version, among an 8GB/128GB version available in other regions, starting at £219. Most users are looking at limited options at that price point, though the CMF Phone 2 Pro promises a lot.

The camera array itself looks impressive. The main and telephoto cameras each carry 50MP sensors, while the ultra-wide unit comes in at 16MP. Sample photos posted on the company’s website inject some hope into this sub-$300 phone’s camera choices. The company also utilizes a proprietary TrueLens Engine 3 for Ultra XDR rendering.

The phone also comes with a specialized Essential Key button. The button acts as a dedicated screenshot key that can be used in conjunction with the Essential Space app, where recording and images are stored and recalled via AI. The tool is meant to be useful for cataloging whatever the user comes across.

Internally, the CMF Phone 2 Pro packs a Dimensity 7300 Pro SoC, which should be plenty capable. That’s accompanied by a 5,000mAh battery that should last at least a day or more, powering a screen capable of an impressive 3,000 nits. The AMOLED FHD+ display also hits 120Hz, which isn’t something we used to see a lot of in phones under $300.

The company is also pioneering some accessories for the device that look all too familiar.

CMF Buds 2 series

Nothing is also pairing the CMF Phone 2 Pro launch with more earbuds. The CMF Buds 2 series consists of the CMF Buds 2 Plus, CMF Buds 2, and CMF Buds 2a.

The Buds 2 Plus are Nothing’s more expensive options at a whopping £49, coming with Hi-Res LDAC and full EQ customization. The tier below offers Direo Opteo tuning and hybrid ANC at £39, for the Buds 2. The Buds 2a are the cheapest option for £29 and bring simple ANC and a 12.4mm driver with deep bass advertised.

These seem like good options for CMF Phone users, and they don’t necessarily threaten your bottom line.

The CMF Phone 2 Pro is available for pre-order right now, with shipping expected around May 6. Users in the US will need to opt in to the beta program to get access to the device.
