Nintendo Switch 2 Expected To Launch Between April And September

The Nintendo Switch 2 has finally been revealed by Nintendo, but we’re still waiting on official confirmation of the launch date which is why this newly predicted launch window is of particular interest.

So far, many of the rumors have pointed to sometime around April or June. A few others have suggested as early as March or sometime in May. The majority of the rumors seem to be closer to April, but publisher and accessory maker Nacon seems to think there’s a possibility it could be much later. If you’re unfamiliar with Nacon, it’s well-known for making a wide variety of accessories for various gaming platforms. It also publishes video games and is the publisher behind games such as Greedfall.

Nacon recently held its third-quarter earnings call for the 2024/2025 fiscal year, and in it, the company has opened up about when it expects the Nintendo Switch to arrive.

The key takeaway from Nacon’s earnings call is the launch window of the Nintendo Switch 2. According to the company, it expects the Nintendo Switch 2 to launch sometime between April and September. In the report, Nacon discusses its expectations for the 2025/2026 fiscal year and this includes a small bit about Nintendo’s upcoming console. Specifically, the Switch 2’s arrival is listed under the April to September time period. Which covers the first half of that fiscal year.

This, of course, is not a guarantee. It’s simply what Nacon expects is going to happen with regard to the console’s release.

Nacon already “has compatible games and a full range of accessories”

In addition to listing its expectation for the Switch 2’s release, Nacon says it’s prepared with content and hardware. In the report, the company states it already has compatible games and a full range of accessories for the Nintendo Switch 2. Nacon is likely referring to ports of some of its current games to the upcoming console. As for the accessories, Nacon says it will be contributing new gaming and accessories products during the upcoming fiscal year which weren’t released in the current one.

It doesn’t mention what any of those are at the moment. That’s hardly surprising. Given we could still be months away from the launch.

Porting games to the Switch 2 won’t be as troublesome as it was for the Switch

One of the strengths of the Nintendo Switch 2 will be its improvements in performance. So much so that there are already rumors it’s getting ports of games like Final Fantasy VII: Remake, Metal Gear Solid Delta, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage. As Wccftech points out, thanks to CPU improvements, ports for current games will be easier. Noting that porting a PS5 game to the Switch 2 will be easier than porting a PS4 game to the Switch.

This is good news for developers. It’s also good news for the consumers. If this ends up being accurate, gamers will have more options on Nintendo’s next console.
