Nintendo Rumored To Announce The Switch 2 In A Few Days

The Nintendo Switch 2 is rumored to be getting an announcement as early as this week, with the rumor claiming that Nintendo plans to reveal the console in the next few days. Several rumors about Nintendo’s Switch successor have popped up over the past year, with more and more of them surfacing over just the last month alone. More recently, it’s been rumored that Nintendo may reveal the Switch 2 sometime in January. This follows Nintendo’s own confirmation back in 2024 that it would reveal the console before March 31, 2025.

March 31 is the end of Nintendo’s fiscal year. Nintendo likely wants to have the console announced before then to drive hype for it when it’s ready to launch later this year. The current speculation is that Nintendo plans to launch the Switch 2 sometime between May and June. At least one recent rumor claimed the company would launch the console sometime in March.

Rumor claims Nintendo Switch 2 announcement will happen on January 16

With so many claims and rumors circulating of late about Nintendo’s next console, many of them revolving around the announcement and release dates, it’s easy to lose track of them all. Let alone which pieces of information might actually be accurate, or worth paying attention to. The latest claim comes from Nate The Hate, a podcast that has been accurate about past rumors. As reported by Video Games Chronicle, Nate The Hate says Nintendo is looking to unveil the Switch 2 on January 16.

Nate also says that the announcement will focus almost entirely on the console. “I’ve heard that the reveal itself is going to focus almost exclusively on the console itself. There is not going to be any presence of games. There could be a game shown running on the screen, depending on how the trailer is put together, but software is not going to be a focus,” Nate The Hate said.

Nintendo has said that it doesn’t have any new big first-party titles coming for the rest of this fiscal year. If that’s true, then it’s reasonable to assume it might not be ready to talk about upcoming Switch 2 titles. But, it may be ready to show off the console itself.

Nintendo’s reveal of the Switch 2 certainly is close. Nintendo has said as much. With it being the middle of January now, March 31 is only two and a half months away. So there isn’t a whole lot of time left for Nintendo to keep quiet about the Switch 2 if it wants to have everything out in the open by the March 31 date.

Some third-party releases could include Assassin’s Creed and Metal Gear Solid

While Nintendo is said not to focus on games for the Switch 2 announcement, some third-party releases are already being rumored in addition to the hardware. Nate The Hate says that Ubisoft is planning to port Aassassin’s Creed Mirage over to the Switch 2. Meanwhile, Konami plans to port over Metal Gear Solid Delta. VGC also states that Final Fantasy VII: Remake is a rumored port.
