Nintendo Has A Pretty High Sales Goal For The Switch 2

Well, we finally got our first official look at the Nintendo Switch 2. We, along with the 15 million people who saw the announcement on YouTube are all excited about this console. It looks like we’re not the only ones, as Nintendo has a pretty optimistic sales goal for its upcoming system. According to a new report, Nintendo plans to sell 20 million Switch 2 units in its first year.

To catch you up, Nintendo finally dropped a teaser for the Nintendo Switch 2. The 2-minute-long video showed off the (sorta) new design along with some of the new additions to the hardware. We see a larger chassis, a larger kickstand, two USB-C ports, slightly changed Joy-Cons, a different detach mechanism for the Joy-Cons, and some more stuff.

We don’t know any information on the price as of yet, but we’ll find out on April 2nd. That’s when Nintendo will give us a more in-depth look at the device.

Nintendo plans to sell 20 million Switch 2 units

From what we’ve seen, it looks like the Switch 2 will be a solid system even though we don’t know too much about it. We’re certain that millions of people will like it enough to buy it. Nintendo is also certain that millions of people will like it, 20 million people, to be precise.

A new report from Bloomberg revealed that Nintendo is locked and loaded, ready to ship 20 million Switch 2 units in the first year, and that’s pretty significant for two reasons. Firstly, 20 million is higher than the year-one sales projections for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Secondly, we have to remember that the company will launch this system closer to the half-year mark. So, Nintendo thinks that it will sell as many units with only just over half a year left. This shows that Nintendo has sky-high hopes for its next console.

We expect to see two peaks in sales for the Switch 2 in 2025. The first peak will be when the system first launches, as that’s natural for device launches. After that, there will be the Christmas season. That’s when most sales tend to happen.
