Night City Still Has Secrets To Tell, As Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.3 Drops Soon

Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a new DLC in the near future, and fans couldn’t be happier about it. After a rather rough launch back in 2020, CD Projekt Red turned the long-awaited game around and transformed it into the game it was always meant to be – an absolute masterpiece. This continued through several quality of life updates as part of major and minor patches. CDPR then released the game’s expansion, Phantom Liberty, which sent the game soaring to new heights with an entirely new series of main campaign missions, side quests, and a complete overhaul of the character skill system. Although technically, the character skill rework came as part of the major patch launched just before Phantom Liberty’s launch. But I digress. The game is excellent, and you should play it if you haven’t. It’s available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
That statement couldn’t be more true now. With new Cyberpunk 2077 DLC on the way, it’s a good time to jump in and get familiar with the game’s mechanics and features. It’s also worth noting that people should keep their expectations in check for what the DLC actually is.
The new Cyberpunk 2077 DLC is going to be patch 2.3
Rumors about new DLC for the game started circulating earlier this week, when redditors on the Cyberpunk 2077 subreddit noticed that a writer from Virtuos listed Cyberpunk 2077 DLC as their most recent resume work. The detail states that they began this work in April of 2025 and are still presently working on the project.
Of course, this spun up the rumor mill, and fans immediately began hoping for another big DLC. However, it’s important to point out that this is highly unlikely. In fact, it’s most certainly not this, as it’s been seemingly confirmed by Cyberpunk 2077’s Game Director Pawel Sasko that patch 2.3 is coming.
In a post on X, Sasko says, “We have been cooking for you in secret for a bit.” He also confirms he’s taken care of the update personally, and tells players that “more will be communicated when it’s ready.”
The update is coming later this month
There’s not a lot of detail about the upcoming patch. There is, however, a release date. Global Community Director for The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 at CD Projekt Red, Marcin Momot, has confirmed the patch is coming in June. The studio also stated during its Red Stream yesterday that patch 2.3 will be launching on June 26. So you only have 20 days to wait before you get to play some new content.
As for what’s included in the patch, new side quests will probably be added. This seems likely, given that Lead Writer at Virtuos, Doug Van Horne, is working on the game. This isn’t confirmed by CDPR, of course. But it’s the most logical explanation for Van Horne’s resume details.
Fans are also speculating about a bunch of potential new additions. Some are hoping for multiplayer (unlikely), while others simply want more stuff to immerse them further in Night City. Such as gang relationships being tied to street cred. Others are hoping the patch brings New Game+ and FSR 4 support. One thing is certain: CDPR is working hard on this patch, and it’s sure to bring players back for more Night City adventures. This is good timing for Nintendo Switch 2 owners, as the game launched for Switch 2 on June 5 alongside the console.
