Meta Just Supercharged Its Ray-Ban Glasses App With Wild New AI Features

Meta has rebranded its Ray-Ban glasses companion app as the new Meta AI app, now with over 500,000 downloads. Alongside the rebrand, it’s rolling out two major features: Live Translation, for real-time multilingual conversations, and Memory, which lets users store and recall personalized info — bringing Meta’s AI closer to daily utility.
Meta has quietly launched its new standalone Meta AI app — but it turns out, it’s actually just a rebranded version of the Meta View app, which was previously used to manage Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses and Meta Stories. That explains why the app already had over 500,000 downloads on day one.
You’ll still be able to manage your Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses through the new Meta AI app, and visually, not much has changed. But the update does bring two major new features that make the glasses much smarter: Live Translation and Memory.
AI Live Translation and Memory arrive with the Meta AI update
This update isn’t just about rebranding the app to Meta AI. No, instead, Meta is also rolling out a couple of features that have been hotly anticipated.
Including Live Translations. The Meta Ray-Bans were already really useful when you’re traveling in other countries. As it could translate signs, menus and more. However, now it is able to do live translation for you, and you can see the translations in the app. So that the person you’re talking with also knows what you’re saying. Meta says that all of this translation happens on your device, so that your conversation stays private.
The other feature is Memory. This is very similar to Motorola’s new “Remember this” feature in moto ai that we saw last week with the Razr announcement. Essentially, you can tell Meta AI to “remember this” and it’ll save it to memory. It will also remember details that you’ve chosen to share with it. So it works a lot like the memory features on other AI platforms.

These are the best “smart” glasses on the market. Meta continues to update them with new and useful features like AI Live Translation.
