LG Just Announced Its “Finest” Monitor At CES

LG made phones, it makes speakers, robots, and elevators among other things. Heck, the company built a combination air purifier and cat bed! However, the Korean tech giant is mostly known for making displays. It makes some of the best displays on the market, and it looks like the company just outdid itself. LG announced the UltraFine monitor at CES.

CES has finally kicked off, and we’ve seen some seriously amazing tech from companies. LG was not shy about giving us a look at some of its interesting tech. The part about the combination air purifier and cat bed was no joke. The LG AreoCatTower is a tall air purifier that has space on top specifically for your cat.

While your cat is sitting there, it will monitor its health using metrics like its weight and how much it sleeps. When your cat falls asleep on the bed, the device will go into a lower-powered mode so it makes less noise while filtering the air.

LG announced the UltraFine 6K monitor

You’ve undoubtedly seen many cheaper LG monitors and displays in places of business or schools. However, don’t let that fool you into thinking that the company only makes budget displays. It manufactures monitors with a high degree of quality, and the UltraFine is proof of that.

LG pulled out all of the stops with this display, and that’s evident in the resolution. This 32-inch display has a pixel-packed 6K resolution. Undoubtedly, you’re in for some seriously amazing visuals with this display. It’s not only because of the resolution; LG has a long lineage of making displays that are high in quality.

As for the colors, this screen covers 99.5% of the Adobe RGB color gamut and 98% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. The company used a Nano IPS Black panel, and it says that this leads to “exceptional color accuracy and a high contrast,”.

Along with the amazing screen, this monitor uses Thunderbolt 5 technology. This gives it a throughput rate of up to 80Gbps, which is twice the throughput of Thunderbolt 4. Also, if the monitor supports Intel’s Bandwidth Boost mode, then it can reach up to 120Gbps.

At this point, we don’t know how much this monitor will cost when it hits the market. Just expect to burn a hole in your wallet (and maybe your leg). The Verge speculated a ballpark price based on the price of the Dell 6K UltraSharp monitor, which runs $2,479.99.
