Lenovo’s New Legion Tab To Pack More Power In A Thinner Frame

Summary: Lenovo is rumored to be launching a new Legion Tab gaming tablet soon, complete with notable hardware upgrades, including a bigger battery and a better display.

Lenovo is rumored to be launching a new and updated version of its Gen 3 Legion Tab Android gaming tablet soon, just a few months after it launched the Gen 3 model that you can currently buy.

The Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 3 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, and offers some compelling specs that make it a desirable little gaming machine. It’s also a very manageable 8.8 inches in size. In fact, this smaller size is what makes it such a good tablet for mobile gaming, as it’s lighter in weight, more easily packable, and still large enough that games look good on-screen.

As an added benefit, for my own personal experience with it so far, it fits snugly in my Razer Kishi Ultra controller. Meaning, I can play games like Zenless Zone Zero with a controller instead of using touch controls. While also not having to prop the tablet up. Lenovo’s next version of the Legion Tab, is said to be similar in design, but also come with notable hardware upgrades.

Lenovo’s new Legion Tab will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset

Among the hardware upgrades coming to Lenovo’s upcoming tablet, the Snapdragon 8 Elite is one of them. It might also be the most important upgrade, as it’s going to make the performance that much better. Thanks to improved ray tracing capabilities and a few other tweaks.

Details about the tablet come from Digital Chat Station on Weibo (via 9To5Google and Android Authority). According to Digital Chat Station, Lenovo is planning to launch this tablet in May. That’s what makes this interesting, as Lenovo just launched the current version in January.

In addition to the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the new Legion Tab will also come with a 3K display. Additionally, it will stick to the 8.8-inch screen size and keep the 165Hz refresh rate. All of this is great news for fans of the current tablet. Especially those who have wanted one but didn’t pick it up. Because this new model appears to be better in every way thus far, while retaining the same manageable size.

A thinner build with a larger battery capacity

If this new version of the tablet didn’t already sound like a great refresh, it gets better. It’s also reportedly thinner than the current model, which is already thin, and it has a larger battery capacity. For comparison, the current model has a 6,650mAh battery. This new upcoming model is said to have a battery that’s either 7,000mAh or 8,000mAh. It’s not clear if this will improve actual battery life or not. Given that it will have a higher resolution display. But it can’t hurt.
