Lenovo’s New Legion 9i Laptop Is So Powerful It Could Take On Godzilla

Lenovo today has announced the launch of the new Legion 9i gaming laptop, a laptop that’s designed not just for the people who love playing games, but also for the people who love to make them. The new Legion 9i is packed with NVIDIA’s latest RTX 50-series GPUs to power gaming experiences with advanced features like DLSS 4 and multi-frame generation. The high-end performance hardly stops there, however.

The new Legion 9i also comes with a fairly large 18-inch display at 4K resolution. Here’s the neat part. The 4K resolution is for 2D visuals, but Lenovo says the display can also go up to 2K resolution in 3D for game developers. So, a game developer using this laptop would be able to do all their creation on this laptop display without having to output to external monitors. That seems like a pretty big feature if you work in the game development space. Though it’s hardly necessary for players who simply want to enjoy games at the highest possible settings.

The Legion 9i follows the launch of Lenovo’s Legion 7 and Legion 5 series laptops for 2025, which were announced at CES back in January.

The Lenovo Legion 9i will launch in the US this Fall

Lenovo’s powerful new gaming laptop is sure to be a delight for gamers who want a laptop that won’t compromise on performance. Unfortunately, the launch of the new Legion 9i is months away. Lenovo confirms that the Legion 9i is launching in the US sometime this Fall. So you still have a few more months to wait. Though Lenovo does have other good options currently available.

Lenovo also stresses that this is the expected launch date for US consumers. There’s a chance, at least based on that wording, that the launch date could be pushed back. Hopefully, that won’t be the case. As for pricing, Lenovo hasn’t announced this either. Stating that it would be announced closer to launch. So, expect an update on how much this laptop will cost as it gets closer to the Fall 2025 season.

Lenovo is giving gamers some serious spec options

When it comes to specs, the new Lenovo Legion 9i is not being shy with its choices. You can go with base model options to keep the price down, or you can go big and really load up the laptop with what seems like the absolute pinnacle of gaming laptop hardware. For example, Lenovo says the Legion 9i can support up to 192GB of RAM. That’s an astronomical amount that is way more than any gamer would need. Hence why Lenovo is also positioning this as a laptop for game developers.

It can also come with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 GPU. Lenovo’s spec sheet doesn’t say whether or not you’ll be able to go with one of the lower-end models, but we imagine the option will be there for at least an RTX 5080. Additionally, the laptop can support up to 8TB of storage. That being said, a Legion 9i with that configuration is going to be a costly monster.

In terms of the processor, the new Legion 9i comes with an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU, with a combined CPU and GPU load of up to 280W. The laptop also has a 99.9Wh battery, though Lenovo doesn’t mention anything about what to expect for battery life. However, this is a gaming laptop with top-of-the-line specs. Don’t expect it to last more than an hour or two when playing demanding games. Additionally, Lenovo loads this laptop up with ports, including two Thunderbolt 5 ports, several USB-A ports, Ethernet, HDMI 2.1, you name it. In short, you won’t be left wanting for ports to connect your stuff. All-in-all, Lenovo is launching a powerhouse gaming laptop with the new Legion 9i. So if you want to spare no expense, this might be what you should go for.
