After launching early this year with Android 14, Lenovo has updated its Legion Tab to Android 15 in recent weeks, but there’s a reason the update went under the radar.
Without much in terms of an official announcement, Lenovo quietly rolled out Android 15 to the Legion Tab (Gen 3) over the past few weeks. The update was distributed starting in late March and widely available through April, though we were only tipped off to it thanks to one of our readers, as Lenovo’s software didn’t even notify us that the update was available, nor did it refer to the update as Android 15, instead just calling it the “17.0.10.039 stable version” update.
Lenovo’s very brief changelog is as follows:
System Optimization
- Fix SmartConnect compatibility issues
- Optimize the problem that some users do not support HD video
- Optimize WiFi 6 network compatibility
- Optimized system stability and other bug fixes
YTechB previously reported on the rollout as it started during the last week of March.
Outside of the changelog, there are no obvious changes. The “back” animation when using gesture navigation has been slightly updated, the lock screen clock font has been updated, and there’s intermittent support for predictive back in some places. But, overall, the software experience feels largely the same as it did. Some of Android 15’s added features, such as Privacy Space, are also missing here.
The latest update includes the March 5, 2025 security patch.
Android 15 also started rolling out to the second-generation Legion Tab recently, but appears to have been put on pause.
Lenovo has committed to three OS upgrades in total for the Legion Tab (Gen 3), meaning users can still expect Android 16 and Android 17 in the coming years. The company has also since launched its Gen 4 tablet in China which includes a microSD card slot, faster chipset, and improved display.
Legion Tab is also currently on sale for its lowest price to date of $469.99.
