Some of these sounds are familiar. Some are clearly new. According to the leak by @DevOflpos on X, One UI Watch 8 has higher-pitched versions of Samsung tones, in addition to completely new sounds. This aligns the Galaxy Watch more closely with Samsung’s new aesthetic it brought with One UI 7. For example, the charging start and stop sounds on the new One UI Watch 8 are the same as on the One UI 7 for phones and tablets. Low battery alerts are also identical.
Samsung is skipping One UI Watch 6.5 ad 7 entirely, jumping straight to version 8. This version is most likely being prepared for the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. We’ll probably see these launch later this year.
The broader implications of this subtle change
Tweaking the sound seems like a small deal, but if shows Samsung is paying close attention to details. Its wearable line is mature, and its ecosystem is coming together. Samsung clearly wants consistency across product lines. This small change gives us a big hint at the Korean giant’s vision.
We don’t yet know if One UI Watch 8 will come with more surprises. This early leak confirms Samsung is paying attention to the Galaxy Watch experience, and that’s a good thing. More details of the watch are expected the closer we get to Samsung’s next Unpacked event.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7
The Galaxy Watch 7 is Samsung’s base model smartwatch for 2024. It looks a lot like the Galaxy Watch 6 but packs an upgraded Exynos W1000 chipset that should mean significantly better battery life and performance.
