Itching To Generate Videos? The Gemini App Might Be Your Best Friend

AI video generation is the latest thing in the AI market, as we’re seeing all sorts of confounding uncanny videos all over social media. Google recently released its Veo 2 model, and it looks like the company is looking to put it to good use. The Gemini app could get the ability to make AI-generated videos.

Right now, several AI companies have their own AI video generation models like OpenAI’s Sora. These create hyperrealistic clips for better or worse. For the most part, we see AI-generated clips being used to create chaotic and unrealistic videos for social media. Just take a look at the Search feed on Instagram, and you’re likely to see at least a handful of AI-generated videos within a few swipes.

The Gemini app could let you make AI-generated videos

It’s important to note that this was revealed from an APK deep dive. As such, you’ll want to take this with a grain of salt. There’s no telling if Google is going to release this feature in the future. There are just strings in the code that hint at a possible release.

Right now, Veo 2’s presence online is pretty limited, as Google is working on integrating it into its service. We found out that using this model is rather expensive, so we don’t expect it to make it to the average user anytime soon. However, a recent report might dash that theory. 9To5Google revealed that Google might be planning on adding the video generation capability to the Gemini app.

Strings within the Google app beta 16.11 point to this. Some strings have the text, “Get high-quality videos with Veo 2, Gemini’s latest video generation model.” Below, are additional strings discovered.

”You’ve reached your video generation limit until tomorrow”

This video generation will still count toward your monthly limit

These strings focus on the daily video generation limit. So, once you run out, you’ll get the message, “You’ve reached your video generation limit until tomorrow” and “This video generation will still count toward your monthly limit.

So, from what we can tell, you’ll be held to a video generation limit while using Veo 2, which makes sense. Pretty much every AI platform has limitations. Some even have tight limits to text generation. So, there’s no doubt that users won’t be able to generate many videos before slamming into Google’s limit.

Limitations?

The Gemini app may let you make AI-generated videos, but what’s the video generation limit? We don’t know, but we know that each video you produce will be eight seconds long. Not quite long enough to hit the box office, but long enough for an Instagram Reel or YouTube Short. Since it uses Veo 2, there’s no doubt that the videos produced will be rather realistic. It’s not likely that an eight-second video will spread much misinformation or do much damage. We’re sure that many of the videos created will be social media fodder to entertain chronic scrollers.

We don’t know when we’ll hear more about this, but Google I/O is getting a bit closer. There’s the chance that we’ll hear more about this during the event if not before.
