IPhone 16e Lacks One Of Our Favorite IPhone Features, MagSafe

Apple announced the iPhone 16e yesterday, but without one of our favorite features, MagSafe. Yes, believe it or not, MagSafe magnets are not a part of the iPhone 16e.

Some people may argue that it was to be expected considering its $599 price tag. Well, that’s not the only thing that was omitted here. The phone also has only one camera on the back, which has been nerfed compared to the iPhone 16’s camera. It also lacks some selfie camera features, a Dynamic Island, and more.

The lack of MagSafe could be too much for some people. There’s one thing that iPhone users are used to by now, and that is MagSafe. Many people have MagSafe accessories at this point, and some of them have quite a few of them.

If you’d like to continue using them with the iPhone 16e, you’ll need to get a case. You can add those magnets via a case, but… that’s just a workaround of sorts. What about wireless charging? Well, that’s another downgrade.

The device also comes with slower wireless charging

The iPhone 16e does not support 15W wireless charging, no. It does support wireless charging, but the brutally slow one from the iPhone SE 3 that launched in 2022.

This phone is also known as the iPhone SE 4, even though Apple decided not to use that name. It’s still a weird combination of old and new, that’s for sure. It combines the iPhone 14 design, kind of, with some newer stuff from iPhone 16, and some older nods to the previous iPhone SE.

MagSafe is an especially odd omission as Apple has been using it in its phones constantly since first introducing that with the iPhone 12. The price tag does not really justify this omission, at least not in our eyes, but you may disagree with that.
