A tipster from China claims that Huawei will launch its second tri-fold smartphone in September this year. The upcoming device, likely named the Huawei Mate XT2, could offer a more durable design, feature the Kirin 9020 flagship chipset, and include a multi-spectral lens on the back. The phone will go head-to-head with Samsung’s first tri-fold smartphone, which could also launch in September.

Huawei is now working on its second-gen tri-fold foldable smartphone, which will see the light of day this September, suggests a tipster from China.
Huawei’s new tri-fold phone with upgraded innards may arrive in September
If we believe the tipster, Huawei will launch the 2nd-gen tri-fold smartphone, possibly called the Huawei Mate XT2, in September. The company could power its new device with the in-house Kirin 9020 processor. Industry analysts indicate that the device will have a more efficient or customized version of the SoC to enhance overall performance. Unfortunately, the rumors have not confirmed the precise specs at this moment.
Another tipster on Weibo suggests that Huawei is going to add major upgrades to the upcoming tri-fold device. It will reportedly not only have improved durability but will also have performance and camera enhancements. The new phone could flaunt a multi-spectral lens for improved color accuracy in photos. After the Mate 70 series, the company is now adding the “Red Maple Primary color shooter” to most of its high-end products.
As for other specs, Huawei could equip the Mate XT2 with the same display as its predecessor. However, users shouldn’t worry, as the first-gen phone has already impressed users with its screen. Furthermore, we can expect the new foldable device to get a larger battery with enhanced fast charging support.
Device will compete with Samsung’s first tri-fold

As per recent leaks, Samsung’s first tri-fold smartphone will support 25W wired charging. When compared to the competition, this charging speed is quite slow. Current foldable devices like the OPPO Find N5 and Huawei Mate XT already offer up to 80W wired charging speeds.
