Huawei Pura 80 Leak: Design, Camera Specs And A Summer Debut

Huawei launched the Pura 70 series of high-end smartphones in April last year. However, the company delayed the launch of this year’s Pura series devices. Ahead of the launch, the upcoming Pura 80 series has already been the subject of several leaks and reports. Now, the design of one of the Huawei Pura 80 series phones and camera specs have leaked. In addition, a tipster from China has provided some details regarding the Pura 80 series’ possible launch timeframe.

Huawei’s Pura 80 will be slightly different than its predecessors in terms of design

Huawei seems to have accidentally leaked the design of one of the Pura 80 series phones during the MAEXTRO S800 smart car’s launch event. He Gang, the CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group, was using an unreleased phone to capture the event’s highlights. Speculations indicate it could be one of the next-gen Huawei Pura 80 series devices.

As seen in the image, the Huawei Pura 80’s camera module will be slightly larger than the one found on the Pura 70 series. It will still have a triangular camera bump, but the change is the addition of a dual-periscope camera lens at the center of the camera module. The camera bump seems to cover almost the top half of the phone’s back panel.

Teme, a tipster on X, indicates that the Pura 80 will have a 50MP 1-inch main camera sensor with a variable aperture and a 50MP 1/1.3-inch camera lens with dual focal lengths. There will be a 40MP ultrawide third sensor as well. Furthermore, the smartphone will sport a 2MP color temperature sensor, which is an upgrade from the 1.6MP sensor in the Pure 70 Ultra (review). The phone could feature enhanced color accuracy, thanks to the upgraded color temperature sensor.

Huawei could launch the new Pura series phones in July

According to Weibo tipster Fixed Focus Digital, Huawei will “most likely” start taking pre-orders for the Pura 80 series after the next public holiday in China. The country’s latest holiday is the Dragon Boat Festival, which started on May 31 and will end on June 2. However, the company could formally launch the smartphone in July.

Speculations indicate that the brand could unveil the Pura 80 and its high-end siblings at an event on June 11 in China. However, there’s no way to confirm the authenticity of the leak, so take it with a grain of salt for now. That said, all the new leaks hint that Huawei could soon start teasing the features of the new Pura lineup, so stay tuned.
