Here’s Your First Good Look At The Google Pixel 10 Pro

Summary

  • Google is shifting its Pixel release strategy, with the Pixel 10 series and the new Android 16 OS expected to launch earlier in August and June respectively.
  • Early leaked images of the Pixel 10 Pro suggest minimal external design changes compared to the Pixel 9 Pro.
  • The Pixel 10 series may see a $100 price increase for base and Pro XL models, with new color options for both the standard and Pro versions.

Google made a significant tweak to its device release strategy last year. Instead of launching its flagship devices in October, which comes after Apple’s yearly flagship event in September, the tech giant moved the launch of its Pixel 9 series to August.

Subsequently, Google also expedited its next major OS release, ensuring that it is ready by the time the Pixel 10 series is ready to hit the stage. Now, we know that Android 16 will debut in stable sometime this month, and it looks like the Pixel 10 series will be the first device to ship with the OS update in August.

A user on Chinese social platform coolapk shared images of a reported early Design Validation Test (DVT) Pixel 10 Pro (via Mystic Leaks on Telegram), and we stacked ’em with our Pixel 9 Pro to highlight the differences, er, more accurately — the lack thereof.

New Pixel, same look

The two phones look identical from the rear, complete with three back cameras (Wide, Ultrawide, and Telephoto), and an LED flash and temperature sensor on the camera bar. The bar on the Pixel 10 Pro dons an identical design when compared to the Pixel 9 Pro.

Bezels and the front-facing camera cutout appear unchanged, while the mmWave antenna cover retains its spot at the top. From the looks of it, Google might opt for two bottom speakers on the Pixel 10 Pro, instead of one as seen on the Pixel 9 Pro, with the SIM card try being relocated.

Adding credence to these images’ authenticity are diagnostic screen screenshots from DevCheck Pro that highlight the device’s DRM, kernel, and processor information.

  • Supplier: Google
  • Widevine Version: [email protected]
  • Algorithm: AES/CBC/NoPadding.HmacSHA256
  • Chip: Tensor G5
  • Number of cores: 8
  • Core Configuration: 2 x Cortex-A520, 3 x Cortex-A725, 2 x Cortex-A725, 1 x Cortex-X4
  • Opearting System: Android 16 (Baklava)

It’s worth noting that the DVT device lists that the Tensor G5 is a 5nm chip, which is fundamentally wrong. We know for a fact that the Tensor G5 is a 3nm chip, and thus, you should take these early leaks with a grain of salt.
