Google’s Pixel 10 Is Finally Embracing Magnets With New ‘Pixelsnap’ Accessories

Google is reportedly going to add Qi2 support to the Pixel 10 series this year. To be precise, they will be adding Qi 2.2 support and debuting a line of accessories using the “Pixelsnap” name.

Currently, no phone supports Qi 2.2 which is able to charge up to theoretical speeds of 60W. However, the iPhone 17 Air is rumored to be getting Qi 2.2 support this Fall. Now this does not mean that the Pixel 10 will support wireless charging speeds that high, in fact, it most likely will not.

Additionally, Google is reportedly going to debut a line of “Pixelsnap” accessories that are Qi 2-enabled. This includes a Pixelsnap Charger, a Pixelsnap Charger with Stand, and a Pixelsnap Ring Stand.

From the names, this sounds like a regular MagSafe Charger, a stand charger, and a Ring Stand like what Spigen sells.

Google likely will incorporate the Qi 2 magnets in Pixel 10

A lot of smartphones this year have added support for Qi 2. However, they’ve missed out on the most important aspect of Qi 2 – the magnets. That’s what makes Qi 2 so great. But it seems that Google will incorporate the Qi 2 magnets inside the Pixel 10. Allowing you to use these accessories without a MagSafe case, like you currently need to do on the Pixel 9 series.

Android Authority was able to dig around and see that the Pixelsnap project is associated with the Pixel 10 within Google. Which pretty much confirms that the magnets will be inside the Pixel 10 series. This could be one of the best Google Pixel 10 features this year.

The Google Pixel 10 release date is set for August 28, with a Made by Google event happening on August 20. So there’s still a couple more months to find out more about Pixelsnap and Qi 2.2 wireless charging on the new Google Pixel 10 series.
