Google’s ‘Daily Listen’ Generates AI Podcasts On Your Favorite Topics

For a while now, Google Search service has included a “Search Labs” tab with experimental features. Lately, the section has been getting some AI-powered features, and now the company is sending a “podcast generator.” Google Search’s Daily Listen will generate audible descriptions about the things you’re interested in.
Google may know more about the things you like than anyone else in the world. It’s not for nothing that the company owns the most popular and widely used search engine in the world. In fact, the Search app’s main feed shows how much it knows about you by suggesting a row of articles or websites that are related to the things you like. Now, the Mountain View giant is taking this a step further with the Daily Listen feature.
Google Search ‘Daily Listen’ is an experimental AI-powered podcast generator on your favorite topics
NotebookLM, Google’s AI-powered research-focused tool, offers an interesting “Audio Overview” option. Thanks to the power of artificial intelligence, Audio Overview generates a sort of podcast with AI-powered personas discussing the topic you’re writing about. It seems the company is integrating some of Audio Overview’s capabilities into Search, but on a slightly smaller scale.
Essentially, Google’s Daily Listen will create five-minute podcast episodes with an audible summary of current events on the topics you’re interested in. Once available in your Google app, you’ll find the option in the “Your Space” section, under the search bar. If you tap on the card, a full-screen player will open and show a transcript while the audio plays.
The podcast playback screen has multiple options. The list includes browsing through the different topics, playing/pausing audio, 10-second rewinding, skipping to the next topic, adjusting playback speed, and muting the audio. You can also use the thumbs icons to “like” or “dislike” the episode made by AI to let Google know if you liked it. Plus, you can access “Related Stories” from the episode content.
You need to enable the feature from the Search Labs tab
The option is available for some people in the Google app on both Android and iOS. However, you must first enable it via Google’s Search Labs section. You’ll find this tab on the top left icon of the Search app’s main feed.
