Google TV Starts Rolling Out Gemini-Powered ‘News Briefs,’ But Only To Some Users

First unveiled at CES earlier this month, Google TV has announced that it will begin rolling out an experimental feature, “News Briefs,” which is powered by Gemini.

“News Briefs” is a feature designed to gather up major news stories throughout the day. With the help of Gemini, Google TV pulls together a summarization of the story as well as video sources regarding the topic, largely from YouTube.

Google explains on a support page:

Using Gemini models and human evaluation, News Briefs presents overviews of the top news stories, and surfaces related YouTube videos from trusted news sources for you to learn more. Briefs are updated with top stories throughout the day so you can easily keep up with the latest news.

For now, this feature won’t be widely available, but Google is rolling it out to “some” Google TV users in the US starting this week. “News Briefs” will appear on Google TV’s “For You” page.
