In the “April Newsletter” for Gemini Advanced subscribers, Google recapped recent launches and teased what’s coming at I/O 2025.
Veo 2 is the highlight, with Google noting how video generation is “rolling out now.” This was teased in the last email. Next up is Gemini Live camera and screen sharing on Android: “Ask for storage ideas for a little corner of your apartment, a DIY project you’re stuck on, or even your phone’s settings menu.” This is live with Advanced and slowly rolling out to free users.
Then there’s Gemini 2.5 Pro (experimental), with the company reminding Advanced subscribers about the 1 million token context window. Google also emphasizes how its “most capable model” can be used with Deep Research (and Audio Overviews), as well as Canvas for writing and coding:
Canvas on Gemini 2.5 Pro can help you go from prompt to prototype in minutes. Plus, it can help you draft and refine your documents or code, offering suggestions to help improve what you’re working on all within one interactive space
The Gemini email ends with a “Tune in to Google I/O 2025” tease: “On May 20-21, we’ll announce a wave of exciting updates that will allow you to experience a more personalized assistant, unlock enhanced productivity, and open up new possibilities for interacting with and leveraging Gemini.”
Breaking that down, “more personalized assistant” could be referencing Project Astra capabilities that aren’t yet in Gemini Live. Namely, the Trusted Tester app/version can remember “key details of past conversations” and 10 minutes of the current livestream session.
Meanwhile, “unlock enhanced productivity” could be referencing new models or updates to existing ones. We’ll see if 2.5 Flash and Pro exit the experimental stage next month.
Finally, there’s “new possibilities for interacting with and leveraging Gemini.” This sounds like browser agents and Project Mariner. Besides Astra, Sundar Pichai said earlier this year to expect Mariner in the Gemini app. It would follow the agentic examples that the CEO mentioned at last year’s conference, like returning shoes or helping you move to a new city.
