Google Play Store Now Says TikTok ‘isn’t Available’

In addition to the in-app shutdown notice, TikTok is no longer available to download from the Google Play Store.

Searching for “TikTok” on the US Play Store returns a specific banner message with the app’s icon: “Looking for TikTok? — This app isn’t available.”

TikTok Lite and TikTok Shop Seller Center have also been removed from the Play Store. Visiting a direct link returns the below message. As of Saturday evening (PT), there are no longer any apps published by TikTok Pte. Ltd. in the US.

The Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act (PAFACA) was signed into law on April 24, 2024, with the Supreme Court affirming its constitutionality earlier this week. The law requires the Google Play Store and Apple App Store to remove TikTok from distribution on January 19. Both companies face fines of $5,000 per US user/day if they don’t.

Given the service’s general shutdown, it’s possible that TikTok voluntarily removed the applications before the app stores had to comply.
