Google One AI Premium Adds NotebookLM Plus, 50% Student Discount

As previewed in December, NotebookLM Plus is now officially available with Google One AI Premium, while the subscription now offers a student discount in the US.

Compared to the free tier, NotebookLM Plus offers the ability to:

Generate 5x more Audio Overviews: 20 per day vs. 3 on free
Have up to 500 notebooks vs. 100
Add 300 sources per notebook vs. 50
Start 500 chat queries per day vs. 50

You also get premium features like:

Sharing “Chat-only” notebook: “You can give others access to the entire notebook including sources and notes, or give them chat-only access.”
Advanced chat settings:
- “You can customize your notebook by choosing preferred response style (for example ‘Guide’ or ‘Analyst’) or create a custom style based on your needs.”
- “You can also select the output length (for example, ‘Longer’ or ‘Shorter’).”
Notebook analytics: “Once you have shared your notebook with others, you can view data on how many users have accessed it per day, and how many queries they’ve made per day in the last week.”

In December, Google updated NotebookLM with Gemini 2.0, three-column web app redesign, and Interactive mode that lets you “Join” an Audio Overviews conversation. NotebookLM Plus is also available for Business and Education users via Google Workspace, as well as Enterprise usage through Google Cloud.

Google One AI Premium costs $19.99 per month and also provides access to 2 TB of storage, Gemini Advanced, the Gemini side panel in Gmail and Workspace apps, longer Google Meet calls, Google Calendar appointment scheduling, unlimited Google Photos Magic Editor saves, and 10% back on Google Store.

Meanwhile, Google today also announced that students in the US (18 and older) can get AI Premium for their personal Google Account at $9.99 per month for 12 months. More eligibility details about this 50% student discount are available here.
