Google Lens Gets The Much-Needed Update On IOS

Today, Google announced two meaningful updates for Google Lens on iOS. It will enable users to search for anything they see using simple gestures while using Chrome or the Google app. Previously, you had to take a screenshot or open a new tab while looking up information about anything on the screen. But, that’s now a worry from the past. Google is also treating Lens with an AI capability to provide extra information about things they search for.

Google Lens on iOS just got upgraded and here’s how it works

You can now highlight, draw over, or tap any part of your screen for a quick search using Google Lens. You don’t have to open a new tab or manually copy and paste text to search for anything you see. To do that, iOS users on Chrome have to open the three-dot menu and select “Search Screen with Google Lens.

Those using the Google app can simply tap the three-dot menu and choose the “Search this Screen” option. It’s up to you what you want to search. For example, you can search for a product, places, video content, and more, within seconds.

Google also says that it will add a Lens icon to Chrome’s address bar in the coming days to make it even easier for iOS users to access it. The quick Lens search update on iOS will globally roll out this week.

Performing a Search using Lens will also offer an AI Overview

The other update enables Google Lens to use the power of AI to “go much further and provide information on the contents of more novel or unique images.” Performing a search using Google Lens on iOS will offer you an AI Overview, giving you a short explanation of what you see on the screen with relevant links attached beside it.

This update is rolling out to English-language users in countries where Google’s AI Overviews feature is available. Google says that the update will first make its way to the Google app on Android and iOS. Later, it plans to expand the same to Chrome on mobile and desktop.
