Google Is Fixing Those Annoying Google Messages Issues

Google Message users have been dealing with a pretty annoying issue lately. For some reason, the app was having trouble sending and receiving images and videos, and people have been reporting on it ever since. Well, Google is now working on fixing this Messages issue, and it has already shipped an update.

It wasn’t an easy time for people using the app, as they experienced a slew of different problems. Trying to receive images would cause the app to slow down or freeze altogether. Also, when they would receive said images and videos, they’d either be blurry or load slowly. That’s if they loaded at all, as people also reported not even being able to tap on them. While the company hasn’t said so, it looks like this could be an RCS-related problem.

In a new support post, Google announced that it’s fixing the bugs at the moment. The company said that it rolled out updates to improve the experience, which means that it’s dealing out more than one. We don’t know if these will be delivered through the Play Store or if they’ll be server-side updates.

If it’s the latter, then all you’ll need to do is wait for them to hit your phone. However, if Google is updating the app through the Play Store, then you’ll want to check for updates and install them as soon as you can.

How to check for updates

One of the quickest ways to check for updates is to go to your home screen, hold your finger on the Google Messages app and tap on the App info button in the little popup menu. This will take you to the app’s settings page. Scroll down until you see the App details button.

This will take you to the page on the Google Play Store. If the method above doesn’t work, you can always go to the Google Play Store and search for the Google Messages app.

There, look for the Update button. If you don’t see it, then you’ll want to wait a few days. The update could reach you at different times depending on your region.
