Google Gemini Might Soon Get Video Generation Capabilities

Google Gemini has become part of the daily lives of many thanks to the different things it can do. It can answer your questions, set reminders, control media, generate images, and control smart devices, among many other possibilities. Google is aware of Gemini’s popularity and is always looking to improve it even further by adding some useful features. Now, it seems the company is quietly working on video generation for Gemini as well.

Google appears to be readying a video generation feature for Gemini

The news comes via Android Authority, which spotted some code strings hinting at the potential Gemini’s new feature when digging through the Google app version 16.6.23. The code strings reportedly include terms like “videogen,” alongside “robin,” which, if you don’t know, is Gemini’s code name within the Google app.

Here, it’s important to note that the term “videogen” is an acronym for video generation. In addition, the publication also spotted the code files attached below that reference “videogen” alongside strings like “Working ……” and “We will notify you when it’s ready.”

Looking at those strings, it seems safe to say that the video generation feature for Gemini is in the works. All that said, the spotted feature will probably be quite different from the Vids app. For the uninitiated, Google introduced the Vids app last year to allow the creation of AI-powered video presentations using prompts.

It’s unclear when or if Google will launch the feature

While Google appears to be working on a video generation feature for Gemini, it’s unclear when it will roll it out. Also, it is entirely possible that the company might not release it, as has happened with other features in development. Google, in recent times, has updated Gemini with some amazing features. This month, Gemini became able to recall past chats to offer even more helpful responses.
