Google unveiled a slew of new Gemini features at I/O 2025, with some especially exciting news for students. The company is offering a free AI Pro subscription (previously AI Premium) to students for an entire year, which now includes powerful tools from the latest Google AI Ultra plan. That means students get access to some of Google’s best AI features at no cost.
In addition to the free subscription, Google also introduced a handy new capability in Gemini: quiz creation. Designed to make studying more interactive and effective, Gemini can now generate custom practice quizzes on just about any subject — from thermodynamics to computer science.

Acting as a personal quiz master, Gemini doesn’t just generate questions; it also provides real-time feedback as students work through the quizzes. It can even highlight areas that need improvement, suggest follow-up topics to review, and even create new follow-up quizzes tailored to address weak spots.
Gemini’s quiz creation feature is rolling out globally starting today, on both desktop and the Gemini mobile app. It’s part of an expansion of Gemini’s Canvas tool that lets you lets you create, edit, and share documents, code, and more.
