Google Gemini AI To Power Up Samsung Galaxy Watch & Buds

In April, Google confirmed a long-awaited piece of news for wearables users. The AI-powered assistant Gemini is finally coming to smartwatches and even earbuds. The rollout will happen sometime this year, with no specific date yet. While we wait for more news on this, Samsung has confirmed that its Galaxy Watch lineup and the Galaxy Buds 3 series will receive Gemini support.

Samsung hasn’t pinned down an exact launch date. However, it’s a pretty safe bet that Gemini will be making its debut on Galaxy Watches once the One UI 8 Watch update rolls out. And when can we expect that? Samsung is teasing it as “in the coming months,” without further details.

Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Buds series to get Gemini AI, Samsung confirms

The Galaxy Watch will get the full Gemini integration, effectively replacing the Google Assistant. However, things will work a little differently for the Galaxy Buds 3 and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. Since these little guys don’t have the internal storage or chipsets to run a full-blown AI assistant natively, they’ll rely on your connected phone or watch. In this case, Samsung will facilitate access to Gemini features through voice commands and handy pinch-and-hold gestures.

Once this update lands, imagine being able to tell your Galaxy Watch to set a reminder, get a quick weather update before your jog, or even have it summarize that lengthy email—all without touching your phone. And for the Galaxy Buds 3 users, you’ll essentially have all of Gemini’s voice-activated smarts right in your ear.

Samsung specifically mentioned the Galaxy Buds 3 series. However, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that older models like the Galaxy Buds FE and Galaxy Buds 2 series might also get some Gemini love down the line. It looks like your trusty Galaxy wearables are about to get a whole lot more helpful.
