Google CEO Previews Firm’s AI-Focused Plans For 2025

2024 has been a year with positive and negative things for Google. The financial results were good, with continued growth in interest in the brand’s hardware products, such as the Pixel phones. The company also launched more AI-based developments and improved existing products. However, regulatory pressure is stronger than ever. Now, Google’s CEO has revealed the company’s AI plans for 2025.

Sundar Pichai sent an email to Google employees previewing the company’s 2025. In his end-of-year message, the Google CEO had already confirmed that the Gemini series of AI models will be the Mountain View giant’s main focus in 2025. In line with that, Pichai now has offered more details about the specific features it will be working on.

Google’s AI-related plans for 2025 revealed by CEO

This week, Google launched “Daily Listen,” an experimental feature for Search. Daily Listen uses everything Google knows about you to make 5-minute podcast episodes with audible summaries and descriptions about current topics you like. The company’s CEO said it’ll continue working on the feature in 2025, so it could be more important than it might first seem.

The email also said that developers will be able to get Gemini 2.0 Flash sometime this month. There will also be improvements to Gemini features for all users, and we’ll see more “experiments.” These experimental options will first arrive to paid subscribers in the form of early access. Gemini 2.0 Flash might also go from “Experimental” to “Stable” in the next few months.

NotebookLM Plus, the enhanced version of Google’s research tool, will be available to Google One subscribers in “early 2025.” NotebookLM Plus has more security shields and features designed for enterprises. Daily Listen, Google Search’s new experimental feature, is derived from NotebookLM’s Audio Overview feature.

Lastly, the company also confirmed that it will integrate the power of Gemini 2.0, its latest suite of AI models, into more products and services. This includes YouTube and Google Search, potentially improving AI Overview’s results.
