The Google Search app on Android is sending out a new style of Weather forecast notifications.
Instead of “Tomorrow in Los Angeles: Mostly cloudy” and the high/low underneath, we’re seeing “Lower than normal temps.” The weather condition icon is replaced by an eye-catching thermometer that has a prominent badge noting what’s happening.
“Warming over next 3 days” is another alert in the new style with a tap to “See full forecast.” This is appearing on Pixel devices, and opening a Google Search results page instead of Pixel Weather.
I prefer this new conversational style for being a bit more informative if not practical/actionable. We’re just seeing these new Google Weather forecasts on one device (Google app 16.14) over the past week, with the old style still in place on various devices.
Old vs. new
