Google Adds AI To All Workspace Plans, But Increases Their Price A Bit

If you are a Workspace user who has been using Google’s Gemini AI in Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Meet, and more, this news is for you. The company has announced that it is taking back the previous $20 monthly AI add-on fee but with a price increase of $2 per user per month on all Workspace plans.

Google is adding AI to all Workspace plans as it increases the subscription price a bit

The restructuring of price by Google comes as Microsoft announced free Copilot Chat for its business customers today. In today’s Workspace Blog, Google notes that it wants to simplify the prices by adding AI to its existing Workspace plans.

According to the new pricing structure, a company that used to pay $32 per user per month for the Business Standard plan with AI add-ons will now pay just $14. The new prices are immediately effective for new customers. The price change will take effect for existing customers starting March 17, 2025, or when they renew their annual/fixed-term plan.

Remember, the updated pricing isn’t applicable for “very small business customers.” It surely is an added cost to those who previously didn’t opt for the $20 AI add-ons. However, it’s a great deal for anyone who uses the company’s AI-powered tools.

The company also assures that it won’t use your data to train Gemini models

As one would expect, Google’s suite of Workspace AI tools boosts the productivity of those using them. For example, Gemini helps with write-ups across apps, automated note-taking in Meet, email summaries in Gmail, and more. Users can also access the AI chatbot, which helps them scour their documents, search for information, and do more.

Not to forget, Google is also allowing customers to access its NotebookLM Plus research assistant and Gemini Advanced. With companies offering AI features, there’s always a worry among users: what if our data is collected for AI training?

Well, it seems Google is aware of this. A part of the Workspace Blog reads, “We don’t use your data, prompts, or generated responses to train Gemini models outside of your domain without permission. We don’t sell your data or use it for ads targeting.
