Following Keep last year, Gmail on Android tablets and foldables now has an adjustable dual-pane layout. This is also available in the Google Chat app.
On large-screen Android devices, Gmail offers a dual-pane layout with your inbox at the left and selected/open conversation at the right.
Google has introduced a new divider that lets you adjust the width of each pane. This lets you see either more of a message or a longer inbox preview to decide whether to open an email. The conversation view can be as narrow as a phone screen, or take up the entire screen in landscape orientation. This was previously not possible on Android tablets unless you rotated to portrait mode.

We’re seeing this adjustable layout rolled out with version 2025.04.13.x of Gmail for Android. This is a nice evolution of Google Workspace’s large screen Android support.
Meanwhile, the Gemini side panel in Gmail for Android and iOS can now generate images. The web version already offers this capability. Afterwards, you can save, copy, or insert it into a draft.
