Global Launch Date For The World’s First Tri-Fold Smartphone Is Official
Huawei has just announced the global launch date for the world’s first tri-fold smartphone. The device in question is the Huawei Mate XT, of course, and the phone will launch on February 18 in Kuala Lumpur.
The company announced as much via its social media channels. The company said the following: “Be part of the extraordinary as we unveil the ultimate. Join us at #HuaweiLaunch on 18 February 2025, Kuala Lumpur. #UnfoldtheClassic.”
It’s obvious that the Huawei Mate XT is coming as the company used the #UnfoldtheClassic hashtag. On top of that, in the image that Huawei shared, you can see the Mate XT in the background in the middle of (un)folding.
In that teaser image, Huawei also says that this is an “Innovative Product Launch”. The company is really not trying to be subtle about what’s coming, nor should it be.
We still don’t know when the event will start exactly, but we do know that it’s taking place on February 18 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Huawei will likely announce the exact time of this event soon. We’re also expecting that it will be livestreamed.
The Huawei Mate XT was originally announced back in September last year
The Huawei Mate XT was originally announced on September 10 last year. We’ve had a chance to use this phone later that month, in case you’re interested in reading more about that.
This is the world’s first tri-fold smartphone, and it’s actually quite impressive. Huawei managed to make a tri-fold that is actually quite compact, all things considered. That makes us excited for what’s to come in the future.
Chances are that the global variant of this phone will be the same as the Chinese one, but with a different software. Huawei likely won’t make a switch to Android-free HarmonyOS NEXT globally, though, chances are we’ll get Android-based HarmonyOS on this phone. It remains to be seen, though.
