Google I/O 2025 has kicked off, and it’s more of a Gemini event in all honesty. The company is showcasing the power of its AI model at the event. After announcing the integration of its AI assistant into Chrome browser, the company says it is baking the same into Google TV as well. Just last week, the company announced that it would be bringing over AI capabilities to Google TV. Now, we know what Gemini can do in Google TV.
Gemini will soon recommend content from across your Google TV apps
In today’s Android Developer Blog, the company announced what’s changing in Google TV. If you’ve previously found Google TV failing to respond with content recommendations, Gemini will help you out.
With Gemini onboard, you’ll be able to speak more naturally and conversationally to find content you’d like to watch on Google TV. Google Gemini will also be able to provide you with answers to all your complex questions.
Google showcased this feature with an example of someone searching for a movie that they can watch with their kids. Gemini does its magic and answers the questions while offering relevant content recommendations right below it.
Not just content recommendations, you can ask questions about your favorite topics
When you search for a movie or show, the Gemini assistant will recommend relevant content from across your Google TV apps. This way, you don’t have to scour through all the apps to find what to watch based on your mood.
That’s not all; you can even ask Gemini some random questions about topics you’re curious about. That will also be coming to Google TV. Later, Google’s AI assistant pulls up insightful answers with supporting videos. The company has announced that these AI features will roll out to Google TV starting this fall. Moreover, a recent update to Google TV also made the setup process even simpler.
