Gemini App Now Available Without Google Account Sign In

Since launch, the Gemini app has required that you sign in with your Google Account to access. That’s no longer the case.

As of today, visiting gemini.google.com in Incognito Mode or similar takes you directly to the chat interface instead of the previous landing page. You can enter prompts and get back responses, with Google showing some suggested prompts: Save me time, Write an essay on the history of chess, Help me plan, and Give me study tips.

Instead of a “Hello, [name]” greeting, it’s “Meet Gemini, your personal AI assistant” for signed out users. This matches the behavior of Google Search.

The model picker with 2.0 Flash Thinking (experimental), Deep Research, and Personalization (experimental) is shown, but you have to “Sign in to explore the newest Gemini models.” As such, you’re using Gemini 2.0 Flash.

Sign in is also required to upload files and access chat history, with Google very much wanting you to use your account as evidenced by the three identical buttons in the screenshot above.

The Gemini app on Android still requires that you be logged in.
