Following a prompt bar redesign, as well as model picker simplification, on Android and iOS over the weekend, the Gemini app is beginning to roll out chat search.
On desktop web, you will see a magnifying glass icon in the top-right corner of the side panel. Tapping takes you to gemini.google.com/search-history with a “Search for chats” field.
Below that is a list of “Recent” conversations that spans back 16 items, with pins appearing first. Notably, this history is accompanied by the date at the right. This follows the recent side panel redesign that introduced infinite scrolling after tapping “Show more.”
The search capability is pretty straightforward, with results including the chat name and a relevant line featuring your term.
On mobile web, opening the side panel gives you a full-width search field.
This is a much needed quality-of-life improvement that we’re not yet seeing on the Android or iOS app. Manual search is ultimately still needed for the Gemini app as Google ramps its ability to reference past chats in new conversations.
