Gemini And Google Maps Could Get Very Friendly!

What makes Gemini so useful is its ability to integrate with several Google products and services. We’ve seen Google squeeze it into some of its most popular apps, and the company is not slowing down. According to a new report, Gemini will soon integrate with Google Maps even more, and this will help when navigating.

At this point, we’re still dealing with early information. Google hasn’t officially released this functionality, there’s always the chance that something could change between now and the official launch. For all we know, the company could shelf the feature altogether, so you’ll want to take it with a grain of salt.

Gemini could integrate more into Google Maps

The prime use of Gemini is retrieving information. So, if you’re using Google Maps, and you stumble on a location that you want to learn more information about, don’t you think that Gemini would come in handy? Google seems to think so.

As discovered through a collaboration between Android Authority and AssembleDebug, it looks like Google will bring a new chip when you summon Gemini while using Google Maps. If you recall, when you summon Gemini while using an app, you’ll see the Ask about this screen chips pop up. You also see an Ask about this video chip if YouTube is open.

Well, once activated, this feature will bring up an Ask about place chip when you call Gemini. When you tap on the chip, Gemini will read the screen and get ready to answer your questions. We’re sure that you’ll be able to ask general questions about the location, but you’ll also be able to ask for directions to that place.

This is where a caveat comes in. You’ll only get information about certain points of interest. So, it will work best if you’re looking at specific places on the map. For instance, you’re more likely to see information about the Empire State Building rather than the entire state of New York.

Right now, we don’t know when Google plans to release this feature, but it sounds like something we’d hear about during Google I/O. We’ll just need to wait for more information to come out in the future.
