Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 is reportedly going to be thinner than expected, and a reliable leaker has chimed in with the likely measurement.
Initial Galaxy Z Fold 7 leaks suggested that Samsung’s newest book-style foldable would measure in somewhere between 9mm and 9.5mm when closed, with a profile of 4.5mm when opened up. But it increasingly seems that this isn’t true.
A recent report suggested that Samsung would, somehow, put out a foldable that measures 8.4mm when closed, shattering previous records and seemingly defying physics. But a reliable leaker is chiming in with something more realistic. Ice Universe claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will measure 3.9mm when open and 8.9mm when closed. That’s thinner than the 4.21mm open and 8.93mm closed Oppo Find N5, the current world record holder.
While there are still questions around this information, this all sounds more feasible than the previous leak. As for the CAD-based renders that leaked in February being incorrect, that also seems plausible as the same leaker was wrong about its initial Galaxy Z Flip 7 renders, correcting them later on.
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in July.
