Galaxy Watch Tiles Could Look Different In Samsung’s Next Big Update

The Galaxy Watch heavily relies on tiles as one of the main ways wearers can access information from their devices, and they seem to do the job fine. Samsung wants to switch things up, according to new leaks suggesting that the company will introduce a new type of tile along with some updated designs for the Galaxy Watch with One UI 8.

Tiles in One UI for the Galaxy Watch work fine, but they aren’t perfect. They can be a bit clunky for the type of information displayed at times. For instance, an entire tile might not be necessary to see one health data point, though some tiles are dedicated to one inconsequential bit of information.

According to a set of leaked images, Samsung’s One UI 8 Watch update will bring a slightly new design to tiles in general (via SammyGuru). The first image shows off a set of tiles, and while oblong, they represent the normal tiles we’re used to on the Galaxy Watch. It appears Samsung Health and Calendar get a new look in the update. As a whole, these slides don’t look too dissimilar.

The next set of tiles is where it gets interesting. These tiles look more like pills in the UI than anything. According to the source, these are half-size tiles, indicating that they may only take up half of the Galaxy Watch’s display. That would also suggest another tile could be placed above or below it, but there’s no telling how Samsung wants to implement this design element from the images.

Previous leaks have suggested that Samsung wants to introduce an “Antioxidant Index” along with other changes. This leak corroborates that with both half and full-size tiles for the new feature, displaying orange, yellow, and blue zones pertaining to carotene levels.

Samsung is expected to launch One UI 8 Watch with the Galaxy Watch 8 later this year.
