Galaxy S25 Ultra’s S Pen Faces Unexpected Issues – Even Without Bluetooth

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is already in the hands of many of its buyers. The new device features improvements in some areas, but the S Pen is not one of them. This year, Samsung has gotten rid of Bluetooth connectivity on the stylus, losing features like Air Gestures and the remote camera shutter. However, it seems that magnetic accessories can still interfere with the operation of the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s S Pen.

Using magnetic accessories could affect the behavior of the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s S Pen

Now that many are receiving their new Galaxy S25 Ultra, some curious details are starting to emerge. Andrew Myrick of Android Central noticed that the device showed a notification when putting on a Fiberborne case with MagSafe support. “Magnetic accessories can interfere with your S Pen: The magnets in accessories can interfere with the signals your S Pen sends to your phone. They may cause your S Pen to not write correctly or cause Air commands to occur unintentionally,” reads the alert.

This is the same notification that the Galaxy S24 Ultra shows when using magnetic accessories. However, the S Pen on last year’s Galaxy S flagship phone features Bluetooth connectivity. Theoretically, the new model’s stylus should not show similar performance issues due to magnetic field interference with the Bluetooth signal.

Myrick also noticed that the alert did not appear when attaching a MagSafe adapter to Samsung’s official silicone case. This suggests that the device could use the distance between the magnets and the S Pen as a “trigger” for the notification.

The situation raises some questions in this regard. Was the removal of Bluetooth from the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s S Pen a last-minute decision? Did Samsung forget to get rid of the alert on its new premium phone? Or do magnetic accessories actually somehow affect the Bluetooth-less stylus’s performance? Only Samsung can answer all these questions, but there is still no official word on the matter yet.
