Galaxy S25 Ultra’s S Pen Could Lose Its Bluetooth Features
A few years ago, Samsung replaced its classic Galaxy Note devices with the Galaxy S Ultra models. The first two generations did not feature an S Pen slot, something the company fixed in later ones. Samsung has added some interesting features to the stylus to boost productivity. However, it’s possible that the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s S Pen will disappoint you once it hits the market.
Galaxy S25 Ultra tipped to disappoint S Pen fans
According to tipster Ishan Agarwal, Samsung will remove Bluetooth connectivity support on the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s S Pen. Some of the stylus’ advanced features, like Air Actions and remote camera shutter, work over Bluetooth. So, it’s possible that the next-gen S Pen will lose those options.
Another possibility is that the South Korean giant will implement another technology that allows it to keep all its current features and add new ones. For example, the company could adopt UWB (Ultra-wideband) connectivity to replace Bluetooth, which would also enable the precise location of the accessory in case of loss through the SmartThings Find option. However, this is just speculation at the moment. The leaks about the Galaxy S25 Ultra have not revealed much about the S Pen, so it is difficult to know.
There are several reasons why companies decide to get rid of some features. In the case of the S Pen, Samsung could have determined that not many people extensively use its Bluetooth-based options. Removing the Bluetooth chip could also help reduce the thickness of the stylus slightly, potentially enabling a slimmer design of both the accessory and the phone.
Regardless, the launch event for the Galaxy S25 series is just around the corner. Samsung will hold the first Unpacked of 2025 on January 22. According to leaks, the company will add a new Slim variant to its next-gen flagship phone lineup, though it’s not yet clear if it will arrive alongside the vanilla, Plus, and Ultra models.
