Galaxy S25 Slim Not Coming Later This Month, May Launch Likely

A leak from last year revealed the existence of the Galaxy S25 Slim. The device could arrive as a new member of the Galaxy S family in response to the rumored iPhone 17 Air/Slim that Apple is reportedly set to launch this year. However, both brands could take a very different approach to a “super slim” phone. Now, a leak claims that the Galaxy S25 Slim won’t arrive until May.

You may have to wait until May to buy the Galaxy S25 Slim

Samsung will announce the Galaxy S25 series at its Unpacked event on January 22. The South Korean giant will show off at least the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra there. The presence of the Galaxy S25 Slim alongside the other models in the lineup was never really clear. Several leaks left this possibility in doubt, and the latest one offers a more specific timeframe for the device’s launch. If you are interested in this particular device, you will probably have to wait a few more months.

If the leak is true, the phone will remain as one of those “special” Galaxy models that Samsung doesn’t announce alongside the others. The affordable Galaxy S FE and Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition are on that list. It remains to be seen whether the rumored Galaxy Z Flip FE will also launch at a different date than the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 later this year.

According to leaks, the Galaxy S25 Slim will notably differ from the iPhone 17 Slim, although the “super thin smartphone” concept is similar. Apple will be all about aesthetics, aiming for a device with a thickness of up to 5.5mm, but with multiple compromises. On the other hand, Samsung wants to achieve a very thin flagship smartphone but with minimal compromises. This implies that the company’s phone will not be as thin as its rival’s.

Some leaked specs

The Galaxy S25 Slim could be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, the same as its siblings. It is said to be built around a 6.6-inch 120Hz 2K AMOLED display. A decent 4,700mAh or 5,000mAh battery could keep the lights on. Its rear camera system is said to boast a 200MP ISOCELL HP5 main sensor. It could also offer a 50MP ISOCELL JN5 ultrawide camera and a 50MP telephoto camera (3.5x optical zoom). Lastly, the device is said to run Android 15 under the One UI 7 custom skin.
