Galaxy S25 Series’ Face Unlock Is Better Than Before, Users Claim

The Galaxy S25 series buyers have been noticing a few changes here and there after a few days of use. In some cases, they encountered some issues, while in others, they noticed improvements over previous generations. The latter seems to be happening with the Galaxy S25’s face unlock performance.

Samsung does not include dedicated hardware for a 3D face unlock system on its mobile devices. The company tried it once with the Galaxy S10 but discarded it in later generations for unknown reasons. That means that Galaxy S phones’ face unlocking system is 2D, less secure, and less efficient in low-light environments than Apple’s Face ID. This is also the case with Samsung’s latest mobile flagships.

The Galaxy S25 series buyers report alleged improvements in face unlock performance

That said, users of the Galaxy S25 lineup feel that the face unlock performance has received notable improvements. According to reports, the device detects the owner’s face more quickly and consistently, enabling near-instant unlocking even in challenging lighting conditions. Users also say the system now works at wider angles than previous generations. That is, you don’t need to put your face in front of the selfie camera in a specific or rigid position.

Samsung didn’t mention any improvements to the face unlock feature during the launch of its latest smartphones. So, it’s difficult to know for sure if the system has actually received any background tweaks. If so, perhaps the company didn’t consider it a significant enough improvement to boast about. Comparative tests by Android Authority found that the vanilla Galaxy S25’s face unlock is just as quick and reliable as the S24 Ultra’s. Anyway, most users who claim to feel a massive improvement in this department are coming from older models, like the Galaxy S22 series.

This couldn’t be the only improvement in the Galaxy S25 series not promoted by Samsung. The company also integrated better quality speakers and support for 45W charging with the cable included in the box.
