Samsung has been heavily pushing Galaxy AI and refined hardware on the Galaxy S25 series. Apparently, the company is doing enough to set new records in South Korea for Galaxy S25 pre-orders, totaling 1.3 million units so far.
Samsung is attempting to dominate the market, as are other major OEMs like Apple and Google. The company saw a massive year in Galaxy S24, with most users favoring the Ultra variant. That data suggests the company had its best launch since the Galaxy S10 in 2019.
According to new data regarding the Galaxy S25 — Samsung’s brand-new lineup — the pre-order phase of this year’s launch has broken records in South Korea (via Yonhap News Agency). Since the announcement and initial floodgate opening on January 22 to February 3, 1.3 million units have been sold. This outnumbers the 1.21 million sold last year during the same phase.
The data also notes that the Galaxy S25 Ultra has been the favorite, with 52% of the orders. The Galaxy S25 and S25+ hold 26% and 22%, respectively. The trend here mirrors what was seen in 2024 during the Galaxy S24 sale period. Even at a much higher price, the Galaxy S24 and S25 Ultra models have been the favorite. The Galaxy S25 Ultra does carry a bigger battery, better display, better cameras, and a glorious anti-glare screen.
These numbers don’t account for any market outside of South Korea, though it wouldn’t be surprising to see a similar trend in the US or Europe, as the company has been offering enticing deals since day one. Users can still get the Galaxy S25 Ultra for $399 with a free pair of Buds 3 Pro.
