Last year, Google released eight updates for its streaming dongles. The first Chromecast with Google TV update of 2025 is now rolling out, with Android 14 not yet here.
The STTL.241013.003 (from STTL.240812.006.N1) update for the Chromecast with Google TV bumps the Android security patch level to November (from September) 2024. This is still Android 12 and not yet reflected in Google’s changelog.
At 72.25 MB, it’s larger than the 59.48 MB update in November. There are just “Other bug fixes and performance improvements.”
In 2024, Google released eight Chromecast with Google TV updates: February, March, April, May, August, September, October, and November. 2023 only saw six patches.
We’re still waiting for the big Android 14 release, which will add a “Home runtime” to allow the Chromecast with Google TV to serve as a hub for your Matter smart home devices.
On your Chromecast with Google TV, go to Settings > System > About > System update to get the first release of 2025.
