Exclusive: Google Pixel 9a Exact Release Date Finally Revealed – It’s Coming Soon!

Since we’ve already revealed just about everything else about the Google Pixel 9a, it’s time to talk about pre-orders and shipping. As we’ve noted in previous reports, the Google Pixel 9a is going to be launching earlier than usual. Typically, Google would launch it right around Google I/O in May. But this year, it’s moving up to mid-March, similar to the Pixel 9 series moving from October to August last year.

According to a source, Google will start pre-orders for Pixel 9a on March 19. The devices will begin to ship on March 26. Pixel 9a will also be available in-store starting on March 26. As we revealed earlier this week, Google Pixel 9a will start at $499 in the US for the 128GB model, with the 256GB model going for $599. There will be an extra $50 charged for Verizon’s mmWave model once again. And in Canada, the pricing is $679 and $809 respectively.

Google is eliminating the camera bump with Pixel 9a

We have already published a few renders of the Pixel 9a, and the biggest design change coming this year is, the camera bar. Or the lack of one. Google appears to be going with a flush back this time for the Pixel 9a. Now that could be due to the much larger battery this year. And in fact, this will be the largest battery ever in a Pixel device – 5,100mAh. Beating out the Pixel 9 Pro XL which is currently the largest, at 5,060mAh.

Pixel 9a will be a tiny bit wider and taller than the Pixel 8a, but retain the same thickness at 8.9mm. It will also shed a few grams off of its weight, coming down to 185.9g. Surprisingly, despite that large battery, Google is sticking with a 6.28-inch display, so it’ll still be a pretty small phone.

Finally, the Pixel 9a will come in four colors: Obsidian, Porcelain, Iris, and Peony.
