Emoji Kitchen has been around for a while, and it somewhat goes unnoticed becuase of its integration into Gboard. As often as cool combinations are presented when you choose the right emojis, there is a way to browse through all available Emoji Kitchen combinations, offering up some of the best picks to send. This quick guide will explain how the feature works.
For the uninitiated, here’s how Emoji Kitchen works in Gboard.
Whenever you’re looking through emoji picks and choose one to include in the text box, Gboard will automatically suggest some odd combinations. This combo comes from the Emoji Kitchen, which is a database of hundreds of hand-drawn mashups, combining two different emojis.
For a long time, users found great Emoji Kitchen artwork by painstakingly running through random combinations. You would find some really great options to send, but it was never the best way to sift through the plethora of custom emojis. While there’s a lot of fun and reward for finding great combos, it isn’t the easiest way.
How to browse through Gboard’s Emoji Kitchen
In December 2024, Gboard began testing a new Emoji Kitchen UI that would allow users to browse available emojis in Emoji Kitchen. The change makes it easier for users to find the right combination of emojis without having to try various combinations. By hitting an action button, a full list of relevant Emoji Kitchen options will appear, giving you the chance to choose from any of them.
- On your Pixel, select the emoji tab.
- Note: This may be hidden in the categories grid button to the top left of Gboard.
- Select any emoji.
- At the top, where Emoji Kitchen options appear, hit the floating arrow.
- Based on the emoji you picked, you’ll see every combination available. Scroll through and tap an emoji.
- Hit Send.

The emoji you picked will appear as a sticker or image, and it will still need to be sent from the text field in whatever app you’re using.
The options you see in Emoji Kitchen via the browse function will vary depending on the parent emoji you picked, so you’ll still need to experiment. Still, this new browse function offers a much better avenue for finding better emojis to send. This function is available for Pixel devices only, still.
