Claude AI Speaks! Anthropic Rolls Out Voice Mode

Anthropic has introduced a new voice mode for its Claude AI, letting users have spoken conversations with the model on iOS and Android—a move that brings it in line with rivals like ChatGPT and Gemini. The feature is currently in beta, counts toward usage limits, and makes hands-free AI interactions possible, especially for those seeking a more natural, Jarvis-like experience.
If you were disappointed that talking with Siri, Alexa, or Google Assistant didn’t give off the same vibes as Tony Stark’s Jarvis, you’re not alone. However, with AI becoming more mainstream, science fiction is much closer to reality. Anthropic has announced that it is bringing voice mode to its Claude AI. This means users now have an alternative way of interacting with the AI model.
Prior to this rollout, users who wanted to interact with Claude had to type their questions. That’s fine, but for those who prefer a more hands-off experience or the feeling that they’re talking to a “person,” voice mode is for you.
Anthropic says, “Voice mode allows you to have complete spoken conversations with Claude on your iOS and Android devices. This feature enables you to speak to Claude and hear responses through voice, making it easier to use Claude when your hands are busy but your mind isn’t.”

Keep in mind that the feature is currently in beta. This means Anthropic still needs to iron out some kinks for the Claude AI voice mode feature. But otherwise, it works fine. Also, another thing to note is that voice mode counts towards your usage cap. This means that if you’re on the free plan, you can expect to get about 20-30 conversations.
However, if you’re a paid subscriber, you can actually connect your Google Workspace account to Claude. This allows the AI to access Google Calendar appointments and emails from your Gmail account.
Other AIs have voice modes too
Claude isn’t the only AI to have a voice mode. In fact, we would say that Anthropic is a little late to the game. Anthropic’s direct rival in the AI space, OpenAI, has introduced voice mode to ChatGPT a while ago. Google also supports voice mode in Gemini Live, and xAI’s Grok also has a voice mode.
Anthropic confirmed it was working on a voice mode for Claude back in March. Now, it looks like it’s rolling out to more users, albeit in beta form. If you’re interested, you can take it for a spin and see how it fares against the competition.
