Chinese Slim Phones To Shame Samsung & Apple In The Battery Department

Upcoming slim phones from China could shame both Samsung and Apple in the battery department. According to a new report, slim phones from Vivo, OPPO, and Xiaomi are coming with bigger batteries than the competition.

Upcoming slim phones from China could shame Samsung & Apple in the battery department

The information comes from Digital Chat Station, one of the best-known tipsters in the business. He said that not only are the phones coming, but that they will offer “far better battery than Apple and Samsung” (machine translation).

That is not hard to believe, not at all. The Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to include a 3,900mAh battery, while the iPhone 17 Air’s battery will be somewhere in the 3,000mAh and 4,000mAh specter.

Do note that many Chinese smartphone manufacturers have already embraced silicon-carbon batteries. Those are denser batteries that allow OEMs to pack in more capacity in the same footprint.

Smartphones from Samsung & Apple are not using silicon-carbon batteries… not yet

Samsung and Apple are not yet using silicon-carbon batteries, at least not in smartphones. So, they’re quite limited in terms of battery capacity in such thin smartphones.

The battery capacity is not always an indicator of how long the phone will be able to hold a charge. Also, Apple’s iPhones usually have notably smaller battery packs than their Android counterparts.

Chances are that the upcoming slim phones from China will have considerably higher battery capacities, and chances are they’ll offer better battery life. It remains to be seen, though, of course.

The tipster did not reveal a timeline for the launches of those slim phones from OPPO, Vivo, and Xiaomi. More information will likely follow soon, though.

In regards to Samsung’s handset, the Galaxy S25 Edge, it’s expected to arrive “around” April. Samsung teased it during the first Unpacked event of the year, which occurred a couple of days ago. We’re also not sure when the iPhone 17 Air is coming.
