ASUS has announced the rumored ROG Phone 9 FE smartphone. This is the company’s new gaming phone, though it’s not as compelling as the ROG Phone 9 or ROG Phone 9 Pro. It’s inferior to both.
The ASUS ROG Phone 9 FE has landed as the company’s new gaming smartphone
Still, this does seem like a very compelling device on paper. You’re still getting a 185Hz AMOLED display for gaming here, and the same goes for Air Triggers aka shoulder triggers. Plenty of gaming software is also included, and advanced cooling too.
The device is made out of metal and glass, and it has a flat frame all around. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC fuels this phone, Qualcomm’s flagship chip for last year. The ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro utilize the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
There is a 6.78-inch fullHD+ display included here, and it’s an LTPO AMOLED display. Its refresh rate goes from 1 to 120Hz, but during gaming, it can rise to 185Hz. The peak brightness here is 2,500 nits.
It utilizes the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and comes with Android 15
ASUS combines the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM here and 256GB of UFS 4.0 flash storage. Android 15 comes pre-installed, along with ASUS’ ROG UI skin. There are also two nano SIM card slots on offer.
A 5,500mAh battery is a part of the picture too, along with 65W wired charging support. 15W Qi wireless charging is also supported, while the phone is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance.
It has an in-display fingerprint scanner, an audio jack, and 5-magnet stereo speakers. 5G is supported, while the same goes for Bluetooth 5.4. This phone also comes with Wi-Fi 7 support.
There are three cameras included on the back
A 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.56-inch sensor size, Sony’s IMX890 sensor, f/1.9 aperture, 6-axis Gimbal stabilization) is backed by a 13-megapixel ultrawide unit and a 5-megapixel macro camera. On the front, you’ll find a 32-megapixel snapper that provides you with an 8-megapixel output.
The ASUS ROG Phone 9 FE comes in a Phantom Black color only. It was launched in Thailand first, and it’s priced at 29,990 Thai Bhat ($890). It’s already on sale over there, and it may arrive in more markets soon.
